Keep your first message brief. Do not send medical records, insurance documents, court papers or financial details until we have spoken and told you how to send them securely.

Time limits

Personal injury claims are subject to strict filing deadlines. In New York and New Jersey these are usually measured in years, but claims involving public entities can require formal notice within as little as 90 days.

If you miss a deadline, you will usually lose the right to bring the claim, no matter how strong it is.

Contacting this firm does not stop the clock. Only a signed retainer agreement puts us on your matter.

Fees

Hunt Injury Law handles personal injury matters on a contingency fee basis. The firm’s fee is a percentage of any recovery, set out in your written retainer agreement and subject to the court rules that govern contingency fees in the state where your matter is brought. Fee arrangements vary by matter, and the specific terms will be explained to you in writing before you sign.

Where this site says you pay nothing unless we recover money for you, that refers to the firm’s fee. A client may still be responsible for case costs and expenses — court filing fees, records, expert reports and similar disbursements — and how those are handled is set out in the retainer agreement. Contingent fees are governed by court rule, including New Jersey Court Rule 1:21-7.
