Small by design. Serious about your case.
We represent people in New York and New Jersey after serious injuries. We’re not a high-volume firm, and we don’t want to be. We take fewer cases so the people who call us get the attention they deserve, and so the person handling your case is an attorney who knows it.
Built to fight for the little guy.
Jim Hunt founded Hunt & Associates, which does business as Hunt Injury Law, after training in Big Law. He had seen the difference it makes when an injured person has a lawyer willing to stand up to a large company or an insurer. It is personal for him: he watched family and friends go through it without that help.
We’re aggressive when a case needs it and straight with you the rest of the time. An accident brings treatment decisions, medical bills, missed paychecks and a great deal of uncertainty into the same week. We handle the legal side, and we don’t lose sight of the practical one.
Not an assembly line.
We work from two offices: Rochelle Park in Bergen County, New Jersey, and 5 Penn Plaza in Manhattan. Most people never need to visit either one — we can do everything by phone and email — but you are welcome to come in.

Big Law, corporate defense and insurance defense. Our attorneys have spent years learning how the other side values a claim and where it looks to cut one down. That is the knowledge they use for you.

What happens after you call.
Every claim is different, and yours may not follow this exactly. But most injury claims move through the same five stages, in this order.
-
01
The first call
You tell us what happened, in your own words. You do not need a police report, records or any paperwork ready. We tell you honestly whether we think we can help.
-
02
Investigation
We collect the police report, photographs, any camera footage that exists, witness details and your medical records. We notify the insurers, so their calls come to us instead of to you.
-
03
Treatment and documentation
Your job is to get better and keep your appointments. Ours is to document what the injury has actually cost you: the treatment, the time off work, and the things you can no longer do.
-
04
The demand and the negotiation
Once we know where your treatment has settled, we put the claim to the insurer with the evidence behind it. Most negotiations happen at this stage, and we tell you what is on the table before you decide anything.
-
05
Suit, and trial if it comes to that
Most claims settle. If the offer does not reflect what happened to you, we file suit and prepare the case for a jury. An insurer’s figure tends to move once it can see the preparation has been done.
Most cases take months rather than weeks, and a case in suit takes longer than one that settles. We would rather tell you that at the start than let you find out later. There is no cost to ask, and you pay nothing unless we recover money for you.
